We are Relais & Châteaux
Founded in 1954, Relais & Châteaux today brings together 580 unique hotels and restaurants in 60 countries worldwide, celebrating genuine and local hospitality and always excellent cuisine. There is no association that has more (Michelin) stars in the world than Relais & Châteaux with a total of 362 stars.
The member houses of Relais & Châteaux strive to preserve and promote the richness and diversity of the world's cuisines and the tradition of hospitality. At UNESCO in Paris, the members committed themselves in a manifesto in 2014 to protecting the local heritage, the diversity of the world's cuisines and the environment.
All member houses are independent companies, most of which have been run by families for many years. are run in several generations and live very family and traditional values.
No two houses are alike, but it is the attitude and values that unite the members.
Relais & Châteaux invites people all over the world to take enjoyable journeys, discover the inimitable local “art de vivre” and have incomparable, unforgettable experiences.
Relais & Châteaux increasingly sees itself as a movement based on a sustainable approach to ethical cuisine and the preservation of local heritage and the richness and diversity of cuisines and of course the extraordinary, personal experiences in the houses.
In Germany, 19 houses and restaurants are currently members of the association. From Sylt to Upper Bavaria, some of the most renowned hoteliers and many of Germany's top chefs are represented here; some for more than 25 years. A number of Routes du Bonheur connect the most beautiful destinations in Germany and thus a visit to established houses with lived hospitality and excellent cuisine.
