What does a ski holiday at Gut Steinbach offer?

Reit im Winkl is what skiers call a “snow hole”. Its location in a high valley at 695 metres means that, on average, more snow falls here than almost anywhere else in Germany. Gut Steinbach is ten minutes from the Seegatterl valley station for the Winklmoosalm. From here, a gondola also takes you to the Tiroler Steinplatte, another beautiful family ski area. Hit the slopes in the morning, enjoy Kaiserschmarrn on the mountain at lunchtime, unwind in the panoramic sauna before dinner, and round off the day with a menu at the HEIMAT restaurant. That is what a ski holiday in Bavaria looks like.

Winklmoosalm

Our home ski area. Free shuttle bus from Reit im Winkl to the Seegatterl valley station. From the Winklmoosalm you can reach the summit of the Steinplatte in Tyrol at 1,869 metres. The Winklmoosalm is the gentle side: wide blue runs, ideal for families and beginners. The Steinplatte adds even more variety: red and black runs, a snow park, and panoramas stretching as far as the Central Alps.

Kitzbühel

The famous ski resort is around 40 kilometres from Reit im Winkl and can be reached by car in 45 minutes. Here you can look forward to 170 varied kilometres of pistes in the Tyrolean Alps. The Hahnenkamm Race also takes place here every year—probably the best-known and most glamorous ski event in the world.

More ski areas

Hochkössen is around 10 kilometres from Gut Steinbach and offers 22 km of pistes and 11 lifts—an excellent family ski area. Fieberbrunn is around 40 minutes by car from Reit im Winkl. This is where you access the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, one of Austria’s largest ski areas, with 270 km of pistes.

Ski hire & ski school

Gut Steinbach cooperates with the ski hut in Reit im Winkl. In-house guests receive a 10% discount on the hire fee. Ski passes are available directly from the Tourist Information office. Two ski schools in the village offer courses for children and adults. There is no shuttle to the ski area, but there is a free municipal ski bus to Seegatterl.
