Chef Achim Hack
Sustainable, regional and delicious - the chef behind Gut Steinbach´s cuisine
Achim Hack is originally from the area around Karlsruhe and literally lives up to his name. Everything that the region has to offer ends up in the saucepans of his kitchen and of course at the high level that he has been working on for decades. A few years ago he defended his star in the Michelin Guide twice in the Dichterstub'n restaurant on Tegernsee, was recognized by the great guide as a farm to table chef (GroĂźer Guide 2020) and for his pioneering cuisine by the magazine Der Feinschmecker.
One could now assume that Achim Hack stands behind the stove from morning to night, combining ingredients like a magician to create new dishes and busily writing menus. But far from it. Of course, Hack is passionate about cooking and fine-tuning new dishes, but it is not uncommon to find him in the herb garden looking for fresh flavors that enhance his dishes or in exchange with his food partners. His high demands on the origin of products make his cuisine so special and creative. It is not uncommon for him to make use of the possibilities that the season has to offer and so numerous of his culinary experiments find their way onto the daily menu.
In his free time you can usually find Achim Hack outdoors on a racing bike or mountain bike, in winter on the ski slopes or on cross-country skis in and around Reit im Winkl.
