For over 25 years my family and I have stood for hospitality in Upper Bavaria. We took over the Gut Steinbach and have developed it lovingly and passionately into a "mountain retreat" with hotel, chalet village and top gastronomy.
Guests and visitors who come to our estate in the heart of the Chiemgau Alps for the first time quickly learn what it means to us to place sustainability not just as an empty phrase in an advertising brochure, but rather to make it tangible in every possible detail: Starting with the building materials, which were used for the revitalization and extension measures under the inclusion of traditional craftsmanship, up to our own, certified organic farm with wild game, goats, chickens and yaks. At Gut Steinbach, we also pay particular attention to sustainability and resource conservation by ensuring that 80% of our products are locally sourced within a radius of 80 km.
For our guests, however, the unique variety of leisure activities in the region will also be in the foreground. This makes the Gut Steinbach a real "retreat in the mountains": families, couples or single travelers will find the ideal compromise between high recreational value and relaxation in harmony with nature.

Since 2020, we have been one of the companies that have been awarded the Green Star by the Guide Michelin for the third time in a row thanks to environmentally and resource-friendly management. Gut Steinbach is considered a pioneer in terms of living sustainability in combination with excellent cuisine. The initiatives include the use of regional and seasonal products, the consideration of biological and ecological aspects, short transport routes, species-appropriate animal husbandry, energy saving, waste avoidance and raising awareness among employees with regard to climate-friendly working methods.

A light-flooded wellness retreat on two floors and around 2,000 square meters, connected to the local area, completely new - and already awarded: This is the Heimat & Natur SPA at Gut Steinbach. As part of this year's "Spa Life Germany" conference, the new SPA was awarded the title of "best newcomer" by the expert jury of the SPA Star Awards. The Heimat & Natur SPA was particularly impressive due to its regional, sustainable and holistic concept.
The highest award to date for our holistically sustainable concept and the well-deserved accolade for our head chef Achim Hack was awarded to us again in 2022.

We are expanding our home retreat to include a gazebo and the Heimat & Natur SPA, which opened in December 2021. In addition, the terrace and kitchen have been completely renovated and brought up to date with the latest technology. Klaus Graf von Moltke receives the coveted "Hotelier of the Year" award for his achievements in the hotel industry.
In an extensive revitalization process, renovation work is being carried out on and in the main building. New rooms and suites, an attractive conference area and cozy restaurants are being created. In addition, the building is being renovated to be more energy efficient.
The Graf von Moltke family buys the Steinbacher Hof, including around 60 hectares of land and its own forest. The first renovation work is carried out and the name is changed to Gut Steinbach. The idea of a "home away from home in the mountains" is born on the drawing board and is put into practice in the following years.

Under the Georg Enthammner family, who took over the farm in 1955, the Hotel Steinbacher Hof was built in the 1960s - today the main building of Gut Steinbach.

According to a documentary mention, Heinrich Steinpacher was already managing the Steinpacher farm in 1435, which remained in the family's possession until 1848. Later, the farm was expanded to include a brickworks, which was allowed to supply the imperial-royal copper trade to Kössen, among other things.
